Costa Ricans, known affectionately as “Ticos,” are open and friendly. En route to your spectacular, Pacific-coast hotel on Jaco Beach, your native guide will brief you on the surrounding natural wonders and fun, adventure-filled days that await you in the days ahead. The drive across the Central Mountains is filled with vistas which herald the beauty of this Central American country.
Welcome Dinner.Hotel.

Day 2 Friday Jaco Beach

Breakfast. Today, begin with an exciting visit to Manuel Antonio National Park, the most famous of Costa Rica’s many national parks. Here you may encounter sloths, several breeds of monkeys, and many exotic birds (including the toucan, or “Froot Loops” bird!), while listening to an informative talk on the history, flora and fauna of this magnificent site. Lunch in a local restaurant. Next, travel to the breathtaking beach of Manuel Antonio. Once there, your guide will tell you about a great adventure that awaits you: Raft surfing — the newest thing to do in Costa Rica. Two very popular activities, rafting and surfing, combine in a perfect blend, making this an experience you will never forget. Be one of the first to learn and enjoy this amazing water sport! Dinner. Hotel.

Day 3 Saturday Jaco Beach

Breakfast. What better way to spend a peaceful Shabbat than on the shores of the Pacific Ocean? Enjoy a full day at leisure or join us for an exciting option for our bold explorers: Outrigger canoes and kayaks will take you deep into the rivers of Costa Rica – an unforgettable water adventure, augmented by the sight of a variety of animals, birds, and tropical plants. Lunch is provided. Remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel beach and pool — or join Mom for a relaxing massage in the Spa. In the evening, why not pay a visit to the small nearby town of Jaco, which offers boutiques, restaurants and ice cream parlors, topped off with a moonlight stroll along the beach? Hotel.

Day 4 Sunday Jaco Beach – Arenal

Breakfast, followed by a scenic drive toward a mountain adorned by rain forests. Arrive at the famous Arenal Volcano Area, and enjoy a short walk around this amazing site, where huge volcanoes lie dormant in the mist. Lunch is served en route. Later, drive to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Your resort is located in one of the most gorgeous thermal areas of Costa Rica, where warm and therapeutic waters bubble and flow in a magnificent offering of health. You will also enjoy our gift: Be spoiled by one of the many enticing spa options offered to you (some are suitable for children). Even the mud is special here! Hotel.

Day 5 Monday Arenal

Breakfast. Today’s trip takes you into the tropical jungle for an unforgettable tour of the canopy. Our eco-adventure begins with a gentle horseback ride into the heart of the rain forest. We may see white-faced and howler monkeys and a great diversity of birds, as well as an enormous variety of orchids and canopy plant life. Here is a naturalist’s paradise. The trees used for our viewing platforms are ancient and towering, offering a privileged viewpoint at 150 feet of elevation – all while leaving the natural habitat unspoiled. With the aid of special harnesses, glide from platform to platform, overwhelmed by the freedom of movement and the sheer wild splendor of the Costa Rican environment. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Time for another spa treatment – or simply to relax and unwind in the therapeutic and refreshing waters? Hotel.

Day 6 Tuesday Arenal – San Jose

Breakfast. Today, you will experience the peacefulness of the rainforest. Enjoy the sights and the sounds of this magnificent secret world, as you quietly float down the Peñas Blancas River in the company of sloths, iguanas and melodic tropical birds. Our guide will offer educational commentary on the plants and animals you encounter as we glide along the way. Next, travel onward to modern San Jose – the capital of this Central American country. En route, stop at the charming artistic towns of Grecia and Sarchi. Grecia boasts a famous metal church, which has a rare and beautiful architecture, enhancing the medium in which it was constructed. Next, visit the fascinating factories of Sarchí, where the oxcarts of Costa Rica are still painstakingly wrought by traditional craftsmen. Splendidly decorated and in various sizes, these carts are treasured worldwide for their unique beauty. (You may even buy a small model.) Lunch at a local restaurant, after which you continue to our elegant hotel for the remainder of the day at leisure. Hotel.

Day 7 Wednesday San Jose

Breakfast. Today is dedicated to a tour of the San Jose Jewish Heritage. Your tour will begin with an orientation and drive through delightful Sabana Park. Then, take a walking tour through the historic National Theater, a masterpiece of both art and architecture, and visit the small but significant Historic Museum of Costa Rica. Next, you will enjoy an encounter with local Jewish Heritage sites, such as the Synagogue and the Center for Jewish Studies. Lunch at the Jewish Community Center. You will see that Costa Rica’s Jewish Community is vibrant and alive. Afternoon at leisure before gathering to celebrate our journey with a sumptuous Farewell Dinner. Hotel.
