July 29, Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw

Welcome to the vibrant city of Warsaw! Upon your arrival, you will be greeted and transferred from the airport to the luxurious Bristol Hotel, your home base for the duration of the program.

To kick off your journey, join your fellow travelers for a delightful welcome dinner at the hotel. Use this opportunity to get acquainted with your group and begin to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Warsaw.

July 30, Day 2: Exploring Warsaw’s Jewish Heritage

Begin your day at the Warsaw Jewish cemetery, the final resting place for many important Jewish figures and over 92,000 victims of the Warsaw Ghetto. Next, visit the ZIH (Jewish Historical Institute), a valuable resource on Warsaw’s Jewish history during the Nazi occupation.

Continue your exploration by viewing the remaining fragments of the Warsaw Ghetto wall, a poignant reminder of the suffering endured by the Jewish community. At the Umslagplatz, stand in silent reflection at the site where thousands were deported to the Treblinka extermination camp, never to return.

Discover the Mila 18 underground bunker, where the Jewish Combat Organization took refuge during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Your tour also includes a visit to the Nozyk Synagogue, Warsaw’s sole surviving pre-war synagogue, which has recently been the target of firebomb attacks.

Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to meet with the Chief Rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich, who will provide deeper insights into the city’s rich Jewish heritage. Enjoy local cuisine during lunch and dinner at carefully selected restaurants, before returning to the luxurious comfort of the Radisson Collection Hotel for the evening.

July 31, Day 3: Exploring Maydanek-Lublin

Today we will drive 2.5 hours to Maydanek, the most well preserved Nazi concentration camp. It operated from October 1, 1941 to July 22, 1944. Due to the rapid advance of the Soviets, the camp was captured nearly intact. The Germans did not have time to destroy it before it was taken over.

Maydanek was built and operated by the SS on the outskirts of the city of Lublin during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. It had seven gas chambers, two wooden gallows, and some 227 structures in all, placing it among the largest of Nazi concentration camps.

Prisoners came from 30 countries. Among an estimated 130,000 prisoners who entered Majdanek, 80,000 people perished at the camp according to the most recent research. Among them, the greatest number of victims included the Jews from various countries (about 60,000), Poles, Belarusians, Ukrainians, and Russians. In order to remove the crime evidence, the victim’s corpses were burnt on pyres or in the crematoria.

It is a long and emotional day – and we will take lunchboxes with us on this day.

August 1, Day 4: Immerse Yourself in Warsaw’s Jewish Heritage

Step into the world-class Polin Museum, a shining beacon that illuminates the vibrant history and resilient spirit of Warsaw’s Jewish community. Wander through its awe-inspiring exhibits, each one a window into the rich tapestry of a culture that once thrived in this city.

Pay solemn tribute at Rapoport’s Memorial, a powerful symbol of the courage and determination displayed during the Ghetto Uprising. Allow this hallowed ground to inspire you with its message of perseverance in the face of unimaginable adversity.

Enjoy a delicious local lunch, savoring the flavors of Polish cuisine.

Spend the afternoon exploring Warsaw’s hidden gems at your own pace, uncovering the city’s layers of history and discovering its modern charms.
