Day 01 Wednesday October 29 Departure from U.S.A.
Depart on your flight to Buenos Aires.
Day 02 Thursday October 30 Buenos Aires
Welcome to the capital of Argentina! Buenos Aires is the most sophisticated and European capital in all of South America, and the gateway to its splendors. Upon arrival, proceed on a tour of this city of beautiful avenues, monuments and parks. See Plaza de Mayo, the political, social, and historic core of Argentina, Columbus Square, La Boca district with its “Caminito” (well known for the Tango), San Martin Square, Santa Fe Avenue, Palermo Chico District with Parks, Horse track and Rose Garden, Libertador Avenue, the Casa Rosada (The Pink House), Palace of the President, as well as the Cathedral, Cabildo (Town Hall) and May Pyramid. Continue along Avenida de Mayo, rich in architectural styles. At Plaza de los Dos Congresos, see the Monument to the Abolition of Slavery (roughly 50 years before the U.S). Return to the hotel to prepare for a magnificent evening. First, an exciting gaucho show at the Opera Pampa, complete with fireworks, and then, a Welcome Dinner. Hotel Melia Buenos Aires.
Day 03 Friday October 31 Buenos Aires
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, visit the Libertado Synagogue and Museum, a significant part of Argentina's large Jewish community. Then, tour the lively San Telmo, the Recoleta cemetery (site of Eva Peron’s tomb) and the famous Teatro Colon Opera house. In the evening, enjoy Shabbat Dinner with members of the Bueno Aires Jewish Community. Hotel Melia Buenos Aires.
Day 04 Saturday November 1 Buenos Aires
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is at leisure to enjoy the Sabbath in this beautiful locale. Time to browse the lively streets in the commercial center of Buenos Aires. In the evening, enjoy a wonderful introduction to the tango, the late 19th century dance which emerged from this city’s poorer quarters. Forbidden in the beginning for its enormous sensuality, tango is now not only part of the background music of Buenos Aires, but its most important icon. Dine in elegance while experiencing a special “Porteña” music night at one of the best tango places in the city. Hotel Melia Buenos Aires.
Day 05 Sunday November 2 Buenos Aires – Iguazu
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to the airport where the flight to Iguazu awaits. Upon arrival in Iguazu, enjoy this spectacular place of great rivers, humid tropics, red earth and incredible forests. While Iguazu is most famous for its falls, it also offers an abundance of animal life, including wolves, monkeys, and more than 300 species of exotic birds. Experience the incredible Iguazú Falls, which run along the border between Argentina and Brazil. A World Heritage Site (designated by UNESCO) the Falls lie mostly on Argentine territory (it is said that Argentina provides the stage and Brazil the pit). Ride the Ecological Train to the best observation footbridges, and then continue by foot. You will encounter Devil's Throat, combining fourteen separate falls into a rainbow-spanned cloud of spray. The lush vegetation, astonishing diversity of wildlife, and breathtaking waterfalls will make you surrender to nature! Truly one of life's peak moments for all who experience. Sheraton Hotel.
Day 06 Monday November 3 Iguazu – Bariloche
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, transfer to the airport and fly to Bariloche, the famous mountain resort gracefully situated between the Andes Mountains and the Plains of Patagonia. This lush area features forests, spectacular glaciers, and mountains surrounding gorgeous lakes, earning its nickname, “the Switzerland of South America.” Later in the afternoon, check-in at your hotel in downtown Bariloche. Dinner at the hotel. Edelweiss Hotel.
Day 07 Tuesday November 4 Bariloche
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, take a chair lift ride at Campanario Hill to the top of one of the mountains, where you will be able to admire one of the most stunning views in the area. Continuing the journey, cross Angostura Bridge over the Angostura stream, which joins the Moreno and the Nahuel Huapi Lakes. See the el Trébol lagoon, San Pedro and Llao-Llao peninsulas – graced by beautiful architecture --and Port Pañuelo, facing Victoria Island. For an extra treat, visit an estancia, a working sheep ranch where a traditional estancia-style barbeque Lunch is served. Hotel Edelweiss.
Day 08 Wednesday November 5 Bariloche – Puerto Varas
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, depart by bus for Puerto Panuelo, where you will begin the cruise to Blest on Lake Natuel Huapi. Upon arrival to Blest, continue by bus to Lake Frias, where a ferry takes you across the lake as you enjoy the beauty of the magnificent surrounding mountains and glaciers. Arrive at Puerto Frias, the beginning of your goodbye to Argentina. Continue by bus to the border with Chile in the middle of these mountainous lands. Welcome to Chile! Your journey continues aboard a catamaran on the impressive waters of Lago de Todos los Santos, taking in views of Mount Cerro Puntiagudo and the imposing Osorno Volcano. Upon arrival to Petrohué, visit the lovely Petrohué Falls, and arrive in the lakeside city of Puerto Varas. Dinner at the hotel. Del Lago Cabanas Hotel.
Day 09 Thursday November 6 Puerto Varas – Santiago de Chile
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport and board the flight to Santiago de Chile, the historic capital of Chile. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the city's most prominent area. Dinner tonight is at a historic local restaurant. Hotel Plaza San Francisco.
Day 10 Friday November 7 Santiago de Chile
Breakfast at the hotel. Your tour of this charming, breezy city begins at the San Francisco Church. Next, visit the "Club Hipico" horse racing course, considered one of the most beautiful courses in South America (a continent with a deep reverence for riding). Then, pass the Palacio de la Moneda, current seat of government, Plaza de Armas, and City Hall. Visit the Main Synagogue, Circuilo Israelita, and the Instituto Hebreo. Lunch at the Jewish Community Center. Later, continue to Santa Lucia Hill, cross the Mapocho River, and pass through different residential districts. Enjoy Shabbat Dinner tonight. Day 11 Saturday November 8 Santiago de Chile
Breakfast at the hotel. This Sabbath Day is at leisure to explore Santiago de Chile on your own. Stroll, window-shop or people-watch in this fascinating city. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Chilean Dinner and Show. Hotel Plaza San Francisco.
Day 12 Sunday November 9 Santiago de Chile – USA
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning is going to be a real treat for the senses! Travel through Cajon de Maipo to admire the beautiful mountain scenery, and stop at "Concha y Toro," one of the first, and surely one of the most famous, wineries in Chile (founded by the Marches de Casa Concha in 1883). Today, the vineyard manufactures the noblest Chilean wines, using grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and others. Return to the hotel for the rest of the day at leisure, until it is time to transfer to Santiago de Chile's airport for your flights home to the USA. Minds rich with memories of "the other America," say "adios" as you return homeward.
